Formatting Your Thesis and Dissertation for High Grades
The dissertation and thesis are two interchangeable academic projects. They typically refer to a much important research project that is both extensive and intensive. There are three main reasons why a student should strive to write a quality thesis or dissertation. First and second reasons are that a student should write a quality thesis or dissertation because 1) he could not graduate without writing and submitting a research work, and 2) he could not receive his undergraduate or master’s degree without coming up with thesis or a dissertation. Third reason is that a thesis or a dissertation makes up large part of the student’s final grade. A high quality thesis or dissertation translates to high grades.
But how could a student come up with a dissertation that could get high grades? There are many ways and one of them is by making sure one gets the proper thesis or dissertation format. A dissertation is huge project – so huge that it could take a student out of his mind. The only way to break it down is to divide and structure the project into smaller yet more definitive parts. By having a definitive format, a thesis or a dissertation is much easier to compose and is also much easier to read and understand.
When a student writes a thesis or a dissertation, he should be careful of applying the appropriate and proper format. Typically, universities and colleges require their graduating students to follow a certain thesis or dissertation format. The format should be followed to the detail, as a student’s may depend on how well he subscribed to what has been prescribed. If a university or college does not prescribe a certain format for a thesis or a dissertation, a student could always follow a general one.
Prescribed and general thesis/dissertation formats usually have some things in common. A student could still find the five primary dissertation parts in either a general or a prescribed format – the introduction; review of the literature; methodology; results; and interpretations, conclusions, and recommendations. Each of these parts is connected and relevant to one another. A student cannot consider his research a complete dissertation if any of this part is missing. A student should be able to accomplish all these parts – which results to the accomplishment of his dissertation writing project.
As much as possible, a student should familiarise himself with dissertation structure and format. Being familiar with a format allows a student to come up with high quality thesis or a dissertation, resulting to high grades.
Dissertation format is really an important part of this huge project. A student who is going to undertake a thesis or a dissertation should really be familiar with it.
